Zachary Mauro Crawford was born on February 9th,
1993 with a rare form of cancer, a malignant rhabdoid
tumor, an aggressive, highly malignant and often
fatal pediatric tumor. At eight weeks old, Zachary
began treatment which included chemotherapy and
surgery. Zachary lost his battle on July 13th,
1993. He was five months old.
Throughout his brief life,
Zacharys spirit encompassed hope and wonderment,
he seemed to be the only one who did not know
he was sick. He was a very happy beautiful little
guy, a baby with a peaceful old soul. His life
inspired his family to establish a fund in his
name at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. This
fund was established to celebrate Zacharys
life, to continue his battle, to keep his memory
alive and to honor and support the people who
cared for him and his family. The Zachary Mauro
Crawford Tribute Fund thrives on the hope of
making a difference for families facing a similar
journey.
Zacharys life, his death
and his love inspired the Tomauro®
Kit.
Zacharys gifts were his
short life and his long legacy. On the day of
his funeral a beautiful double rainbow appeared.
Perhaps they were gifts of hope and peace. At
Hoping Skills Company LLC, we
believe that the Tomauro® kit can be the
same.
The name Tomauro® kit has
a significant and hopeful meaning. Zacharys
middle name was the first name of his maternal
great grandfather, Mauro Bucco. Mauro died before
Zachary was born but his wish was for a child
to be named after him, as is tradition in Italian
heritage. By putting the simple To
in front of this name, Hoping Skills Company
LLC brings together the personal story and celebration
of a babys short yet significant life
with todays hope for tomorrow. The Tomauro®
Kit strives to become your personal story and
celebration of life, and a gift of hope, healing,
and peace for tomorrow.
